fgwirc is a minimalistic IRC client crafted for my very own needs, without trying to conform anyone else's needs. I am actively trying to keep it small so if it doesn't do what you want and can not be scripted to do it, it's probably not for you. What fgwirc is strong in: - it is small and simple - it is scriptable in a dozen of different scripting languages - it has a solid window and multi-server code written from scratch Intentionally not supported: - Multiple windows on screen: why reinvent window managers/screen(1)/tmux(1)? - utf8/unicode/encodings: I always use ASCII - mirc colors: don't want - DCC: in the age of NATs this rarely works anyway - no /query with channels; query is for nicks, for channels there's join - multiple channels and queries per window: rarely used it on purpose; each window hosts only one thing: - a channel on a specific IRC server - a query with a nick on a specific IRC server - IRC server misc - unused/notepad (no-network; messages entered on the edit line are saved in the backlog and file log) - window 0 is always the fgwirc status window showing non-server messages Not decided yet: - ssl
